Saudi Arabia’s Haya Alsulaiman Strives to Empower Women through Golf in Middle East

by Nada Khaled

Haya Ghassan Alsulaiman, a 31-year-old Saudi woman and owner of the Dubai-based golf coaching center Golftec, hopes to encourage more women to play golf in the Middle East.

Golftec is already one of the most popular institutions for golf development in the US, and with Alsulaiman leading the charge, it launched in Dubai City Walk in 2023.

The organization was founded in 1995 in the basement of a Denver, Colorado, country club and has since become a household name worldwide, operating in six countries and boasting over 210 locations with more than 800 full-time golf coaches.

Despite this, Golftec remains relatively unknown in the Middle East. Alsulaiman is determined to change this, not only in the UAE but across the entire region, and in doing so, empower more women to take up a sport that has traditionally been seen as the domain of men.
