Farida Osman Wins Bronze in the Women’s 50m Butterfly at Taranto 2026

Egyptian swimmer Farida Osman has won the bronze medal in the women’s 50m butterfly at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, finishing the race in 26.32 seconds. Her podium finish delivered Egypt’s second medal of the Games. (Taranto 2026)

Farida Osman Adds Another Medal for Egypt

Osman’s bronze followed Abdelrahman Sameh’s gold medal in the men’s 50m butterfly. Sameh won the race in 23.18 seconds, securing Egypt’s first gold medal at Taranto 2026 and setting a new competition record. (اليوم السابع)

The women’s 50m butterfly final saw Greece’s Anna Ntountounaki take gold in 26.11 seconds, Italy’s Viola Scotto di Carlo claim silver in 26.29, and Osman finish third in 26.32 seconds. (Taranto 2026)

Egypt Competes Across 23 Sports

The 20th Mediterranean Games are being held in Taranto, Italy, with the competition scheduled to continue through September 3. The Games feature 3,803 athletes representing 26 countries. (اليوم السابع)

Egypt is competing across 23 sports at the Games, including athletics, archery, badminton, 3×3 basketball, boxing, canoeing and kayaking, equestrian, fencing, swimming, gymnastics, handball, judo, karate, padel, rowing, sailing, shooting, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, fin swimming and inline skating. The Egyptian delegation is aiming to build on the country’s strong Mediterranean Games record as competition continues in Taranto.

Egypt currently ranks sixth among the countries with the most medals in Mediterranean Games history, with 620 medals, including 156 gold, 209 silver and 255 bronze medals. (اليوم السابع)
