World No.1 Nour El Sherbini emerged victorious in the 2024 Windy City Open, defeating Nouran Gohar in the finals at the University Club of Chicago.

Egypt’s Nour El Sherbiny, the world’s top seed, and Nouran Gohar, the world’s third seed, have engaged in a historical face-off in the Windy City Squash Open final.

El Sherbiny advanced to the tournament final by defeating Georgina Kennedy 3-1 in 45 minutes, while Gohar advanced to the final by defeating Egypt’s Hania El Hammamy, the world’s second-ranked player, 3-0 in a 70-minute battle.

El Sherbini won her second Windy City Open trophy, defeating Gohar 11-7, 6-11, 11-4, 11-4, to win her sixth tournament of the season.

The Egyptian pair faced off for the 30th time on the PSA Tour, with El Sherbini winning 21 of the previous 29 meetings, including the final of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions just over a month ago.

El Sherbini bounced back from 2-0 down to deny Gohar her first title since recovering from a plantar fascia injury in her heel. The reigning World Champion delivered a more controlled performance this time around with only a second-game wobble marring an otherwise dominant performance in which she won her 40th PSA title.
