Grant Agreement Signing Between EU and NCCM  On National Children Empowerment Initiative

The European Union (EU) and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM) have reached grant agreement for child empowerment in Egypt. The signing ceremony on Sunday, was witnessed by the Head of the EU Delegation to Egypt, Amb. Christian Berger, Secretary-General of the NCCM ,Nevine Othman, as signatories, and Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat. The agreement aims to harness child protection services for positive behavioral change among children in Egypt.

The EU-funded Initiative seeks to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders in providing child-friendly services and promoting positive parenting practices. It will benefit 300 children, 70 parents, and 70 teachers and social workers from four governorates.

One of the objectives of the Initiative is designing a standardized training curriculum for personnel involved in child protection services. This will ensure consistent and effective support for children across the country. EU-NCCM partnership reflects a long-standing collaboration in safeguarding children’s rights, including the rights of children with disabilities.

Amb. Berger expressed the EU’s strong commitment to improving child-friendly services and promoting behavior change through positive parenting techniques. The collaboration will scale up the National Child Empowerment Initiative to benefit a larger number of children in Egypt. On the other hand, Nevine Othman highlighted that the agreement will protect children’s rights within the framework of the initiative to provide a supportive environment for Egypt’s wellbeing and development.
