Dr. Mervat Abou Ouf Appointed Dean at European Institution

The National Council For Women extends its sincerest congratulations to Dr. Mervat Abou Ouf, esteemed Egyptian media scholar and long-serving member of several influential cultural and educational councils, on her recent appointment as Dean of the School of Visual and Creative Arts at ESLSCA University Europe, beginning September 2025.

The announcement was met with warm applause from colleagues and leaders across Egypt’s academic and cultural spheres. Among the first to convey their congratulations was  Judge Amal Ammar and the full membership of his team, who together praised Dr. Abou Ouf’s visionary leadership and academic integrity.

Dr. Abou Ouf, a Professor of Practice at the American University in Cairo (AUC) and an expert consultant in media and film policy, brings to her new post a wealth of experience across international education, public communication, and cinematic legislation. Her academic journey spans institutions of high repute, including the University Autonoma of Barcelona, where she earned her Ph.D. in Communication with a concentration in Media Legislation and the Cinema Industry.

In addition to her academic endeavors, Dr. Abou Ouf has played a transformative role in youth and executive training through her work as a trainer at Egypt’s National Training Academy (NTA). There, she contributed to several Presidential Leadership Programs (PLP, EPLP, APLP), cementing her reputation as a national educator committed to fostering critical thinking and ethical media practices.

Beyond academia, Dr. Abou Ouf is a member of the Foreign Press Association (FPA) and serves as a consultant for the Chamber of Cinema Industry (CCI) under the Egyptian Federation. Her portfolio reflects a unique synthesis of practical media training, policy advisory, and regional cultural development.

Her new role at ESLSCA Europe will encompass leadership of the Departments of Film Studies and Media Technologies, a dual post designed to strengthen interdisciplinary education at the crossroads of visual storytelling and digital innovation.

As she prepares to take up this significant academic mantle, Dr. Abou Ouf continues to symbolize the intellectual vitality and global engagement of Egypt’s academic and media sectors.
