Egyptian sprinting sensation Basant Hemida added another golden chapter to her stellar career by clinching first place in the 400-meter race at the prestigious Lucca International Athletics Meeting in Italy.

Hemida’s victory underscores her continued dominance on the track and reaffirms her status as one of the most accomplished female athletes in Egyptian and Arab athletics history. Her gold medal win in Italy not only adds to her growing medal collection but also marks a strong statement ahead of upcoming international competitions.

This latest achievement follows her historic performances in recent years. Hemida became the first Egyptian and Arab woman to win medals in the history of track and field events when she secured:

  • Gold in the 100m sprint at the 2022 Mediterranean Games in Algeria, and
  • Gold in the 200m women’s race at the 2023 FBK Games in the Netherlands.

Her performance in Lucca once again elevated Egypt’s presence on the global athletics stage and demonstrated the continued rise of Arab women in international sports.
