Egyptian President To Relocate His Office to New Administrative Capital

by Mona Yousef

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has announced plans to move his office to the New Administrative Capital (NAC) after his third term inauguration ceremony, according to Khaled Abbas, CEO of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD). The inauguration will take place on April 2 in front of the country’s parliament’s headquarters in the NAC. Following the ceremony, a symbolic flag-raising will occur in the People’s Square, situated directly across from the new parliament building.

Abbas emphasized that the NAC is fully prepared to accommodate the presidential administration. The NAC aims to propel Egypt into a new era of modernity while addressing congestion issues in Cairo, which currently houses 22 million of Egypt’s 109 million residents. The government views the NAC as the future of Egypt.

As of July 2023, the government has already relocated 40,000 employees and 100 agencies to the new capital, with parliamentary and ministerial duties now being carried out in the NAC.
