The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) in Washington, D.C., will officially reopen on October 21 at a cost of $67.5 Million after several years of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, offering remodeled galleries and event spaces, as well as a clean exterior.

A new exhibition titled “The Sky is the Limit” will welcome visitors back to the museum, featuring more than 30 never-before-exhibited large-scale sculptures and immersive installations by 13 living artists, including Reena Banerjee, Shaneke Smith, and Ursula von Rydingswaard.

According to CNN, the Director of  the NMWA, Susan Fisher Sterling, stated: For the museum’s first complete renovation since it opened in 1987, the goal was to rethink the exhibition spaces without changing the historical footprint.

She added: With the help of Baltimore-based architecture firm Sandra Vecchio & Associates, the museum’s previously small galleries were opened and expanded, with 20% more space to facilitate flow and more connections between the artworks.
