Egypt’s Tennis Champion Mayar Sherif Jumps to World no.66

Egyptian tennis star Mayar Sherif improved her international ranking from 80th to 66th worldwide on Monday, May 20.

Sherif impressively climbed 14 places in the international ranking after participating in several championships, such as the Parma Ladies Open, Rome Tennis Open, and Madrid Tennis Open.

In the final of the Parma Ladies Open, Sherif lost to Anna Carolina Schmiedlova. She reached the final after defeating Renata Zarazua, the 125th seed in the world, in the semi-final with a score of 6-4, 6-4.

Sherif was eliminated in the third round of the Rome Tennis Open after being defeated by Victoria Azarenka, the 24th seed in the world.

In the Catalonia Open tournament, Egypt’s tennis star advanced to the final but lost to Katerina Siniakova with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 3-6.

She was also eliminated from the Madrid Tennis Open after being defeated by the 4th seed in the world, Kazakhstani Elena Rybakina, in the round of 32.
