Egyptian Doctor Amal El-Bashlawy Wins First Place in Olaminary Award for Rare Diseases

The National Council for Women, chaired by Counselor Amal Ammar, has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Amal El-Bashlawy, Professor of Pediatric Hematology at Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, on winning first place in the Olaminary Award for Rare Diseases.

The award recognizes Dr. El-Bashlawy’s distinguished scientific and research contributions, as well as her nearly 27 years of work in combating and treating Gaucher disease, a rare inherited disorder.

Counselor Amal Ammar expressed her pride in this international scientific achievement, emphasizing that it reflects the excellence of Egyptian women’s expertise and their ability to achieve outstanding results across scientific and medical fields, contributing to raising Egypt’s profile on the international stage.

She added that Dr. El-Bashlawy represents an inspiring example of an Egyptian woman whose knowledge and experience serve humanity. Through her work in diagnosing, treating, and monitoring patients with rare diseases, she helps support access to specialized medical care and improve patients’ quality of life.

The President of the National Council for Women also stressed the importance of supporting talented women and encouraging distinguished professionals who contribute to scientific research and medical advancement. She noted that the achievements of Egyptian women demonstrate their ability to participate effectively in the country’s development and progress.
