A press conference to announce the state of entrepreneurship and startups in Egypt
The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, represented by the Rowad 2030 project, held; A press conference was held to announce the state of entrepreneurship and startups in Egypt, during a session entitled “Business Clinics Solutions and Services for Startups and Entrepreneurs”, which witnessed the signing of many cooperation protocols between the project and several partners.
During the session, Dr. Ghada Khalil, Director of the Rowad 2030 Project, reviewed the history of the project and the grants and services it provides, stressing that Egypt is one of the fastest-growing environments for the growth of the number of startups and that Egypt maintains first place in Africa and advances 10 places globally in the global entrepreneurship index NECI issued by Global Entrepreneurship Monitor in 2022.
Khalil said that the number of startups operating in Egypt is currently 677, the average number of job opportunities in operating startups is 45,955, and the percentage of companies that have expanded locally and globally is 6.20% of the total number of active companies, explaining that Egyptian startups recorded a record growth in the volume of investment. The bold sector over the past five years at a compound annual growth rate of 83.81%.
Dr. Ghada Khalil emphasized the importance of business clinics and the services they provide, noting that the current goal is to increase the number of business clinics in the different governorates and improve the services provided through them to entrepreneurs, explaining that business clinics provide an appropriate environment supportive of entrepreneurship through experts specialized in various fields.
She indicated that the project cooperates with several strategic partners and that the official sponsors of the project are Banque Misr and the National Bank. Khalil reviewed aspects of cooperation with the project partners, pointing out that the project partners are in the field of marketing, as the project signed with Mount PR Company, Victory Link Company, Startopia Company, and Azily Company, to increase the number of companies that provide marketing consulting to entrepreneurs.
She said that in the field of business development, a cooperation protocol was also signed with the Young Businessmen Association, noting today’s signing with the Nile Pioneers initiative of the Central Bank, pointing out that in the technical field, cooperation has been made with GoDaddy, which is one of the largest companies that provide technical services to entrepreneurs, in addition to cooperating with BznsBuilder.
Dr. Ghada Khalil also mentioned the legal partners with the project, and partners in the field of corporate readiness for financing, the field of public consultations, and the field of human resources and project management.
