Egypt’s Women’s Football Team to Face Rwanda in African Qualifiers

The Egyptian women’s football team will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, on February 17 for the first leg of the African qualifiers for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations. The match is scheduled to take place on February 21, with the return leg set for February 25 at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia.

The team, led by coach Ahmed Ramadan, is currently in an open training camp at the National Teams Center in 6th of October City, which started on February 8. This camp is part of their preparations for the two crucial fixtures against Rwanda, as they aim to secure their spot in the prestigious tournament to be held in Morocco next year.

The squad has been finalized with 30 players selected for the camp, including top talent like Habiba Essam, Nena Tarek, Maha Al-Maaderash, Thouraya Ashraf, and Noor Khaled. The team is undergoing intensive training ahead of their first international test in the qualifiers.

In other football news, the Egyptian Premier League club Zamalek has made a strategic change in their lineup for their upcoming match against Haras El Hodood, with Mohamed El-Mathlouthi stepping in as a replacement for Mohamed El-Wench. Additionally, Zamalek has decided to delay their search for a foreign sporting director.

Meanwhile, in squash, Egyptian players Fayrouz Abu El-Kheir, Farida Mohamed, and Nada Abbas have qualified for the semifinals of the Carol Weymuller Open.

The women’s national football team’s match against Rwanda promises to be a pivotal moment in their journey to the continental championships. The Egyptian Football Association and fans alike will be closely watching as the team aims to make a strong start in their qualifiers.
