Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has issued a decision appointing Dr. Olfat Ghorab, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Company for Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Supplies (Acdima), to the Pharmaceutical Studies Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities.
Dr. Ghorab also held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vacsera, a holding company for biological products and vaccines until 2017 when she assumed the Chairmanship of Acdima, a position she continues to hold.
Under her leadership, ACDIMA and its affiliated companies have solidified their position as a key driver of innovation and growth in Egypt’s pharmaceutical sector. With a market share nearing 15% of the national pharmaceutical market, ACDIMA is at the forefront of providing safe, effective, and competitively priced medicines, while also playing a crucial role in fulfilling the local demand, as well as promoting Egypt’s pharmaceutical exports globally.
Additionally, she launched the “Best Research Award in Applied Pharmaceutical Sciences,” an initiative aimed at supporting cutting-edge research with tangible benefits for public health. This award not only encourages scientific innovation but also fosters collaboration between local pharmaceutical companies to bring groundbreaking research to market.
Dr. Ghorab has achieved numerous accolades throughout her career, including being named the Best CEO of Pharmaceutical Company twice and the Best Pharmacist three times, in addition to being recognized as the Ideal Pharmacist five times. This appointment underscores Dr. Ghorab’s significant contributions to the pharmaceutical sector in Egypt and her expertise in the field.
