Dr. Rania Al Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, met with Major General Khairat Barakat, Chairman of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
According to the Ministry, both parties discussed the agency’s work and its efforts to improve Egypt’s statistical system.
During the meeting, Dr. Al Mashat underscored the pivotal role of CAPMAS in promoting statistical awareness in Egypt. She emphasized the crucial role of statistics and data in decision-making, particularly in the context of development.
She additionally highlighted the need for accessible data for decision-makers, researchers, and the general public in accordance with professional standards and international norms.
The meeting also addressed plans to enhance the agency’s digital infrastructure, ensure that personnel is equipped to handle databases and keep pace with advancements in digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
Furthermore, they discussed efforts to improve the statistical system, promote the use of statistics in national policies and planning processes, and develop an action plan for capacity-building.
