Maya Morsi: International Day for Women in Diplomacy Celebrates First Egyptian Ambassador, Aisha Ratib

President of the National Council for Women, Dr. Maya Morsi, congratulated women in Egypt and worldwide, on the occasion of International Women’s Day in Diplomacy.

The President posted on her official page on Facebook: All countries of the world celebrate International Women’s Day in diplomacy. For me personally, it is a celebration of Aisha Ratib, her daughters, and her granddaughters in honor of the first Egyptian ambassador who held the position of ambassador to Egypt abroad in 1979.


Morsi stated: Today in Egypt, the percentage of women’s representation in the latest batches of diplomatic attachés at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reached 62%, and the number of female diplomats in the diplomatic and consular corps is about 274 out of 949 current members of the Egyptian diplomatic corps, meaning they represent nearly 30% of the members.

She added: Abroad, there are about 19 female ambassadors and consuls general in various countries that represent circles of interest in Egyptian foreign policy, in addition to more than 32 female diplomats assuming leadership positions in the General Court of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The President of the council concluded by saying: The dreams of Egyptian women are still endless in this field.
