Minister of Social Solidarity Reveals “Forsa” Initiative, which Aims to Provide Employment Opportunities

by Nada Khaled

The “Forsa” program is a job creation initiative aimed at providing employment opportunities to beneficiaries of the monetary subsidies program “Takaful w Karama”. With a budget of $400,000, the program aims to create 800 job opportunities in the Sharqiah and Asyuot Governorates by June. This initiative will increase the total number of job opportunities created to 9,500.

It has been observed that a total of 1,500 individuals were able to secure employment opportunities through four employment fairs. Meanwhile, the remaining individuals opted for self-employment opportunities through microfinancing in various sectors such as agriculture, animal production, carpets, garments, furniture, home wear, and metal forging, among others.

The program has been successfully funded through a grant provided by the Norwegian government and implemented in collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO). Its accomplishments include the capacity-building of 56 non-governmental organizations in Sharqiah and Asyuot, 19 microfinancing associations, and 105 instructors who provide training to Forsa beneficiaries.

The Takaful w Karama program is intended to provide financial support to beneficiaries for a period of 6-12 months, even after they have found employment, in order to ensure their stability in the workplace. Minister of Social Solidarity, Nevine El-Kabbaj, has reported that the program has enrolled approximately 4.7 million families and has a budget of LE41 billion for the year 2024.
