Partial Lunar Eclipse Visible in Egyptian Skies This Week

NASA has confirmed a spectacular total solar eclipse gracing North America in 2024, surpassing the duration of the 2017 eclipse witnessed by over 20 million people. Meanwhile, a partial lunar eclipse is expected to occur in Egypt.

According to NASA, a spectacular total solar eclipse, exceeding the one witnessed by over 20 million people in 2017, is on the horizon. However, we’ll have to wait until August 2044 for the next one in the United States. The last 150 years have seen only 15 total solar eclipses across the US.

Meanwhile, Egypt prepares for a partial lunar eclipse this Saturday. The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) confirms Earth’s shadow will partially cover the moon, with roughly 12.2% of its surface obscured.

This astronomical phenomenon will be visible across vast swathes of the globe, including Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, North and South America (partially), the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Oceans, and the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

The entire event will last approximately 4 hours and 25 minutes, with the partial eclipse itself spanning roughly 1 hour and 17 minutes.
