Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population announced on Saturday that over 2.5 million women have benefited from a presidential initiative focused on maternal and fetal health. Launched in March 2020 under the umbrella of the “100 Million Health Initiative,” the program has achieved significant progress in safeguarding the well-being of mothers and babies across the country.

The initiative prioritizes the early detection of diseases transmissible from mother to fetus, allowing for timely intervention and improved health outcomes. Additionally, it provides free treatment and healthcare services, ensuring wider access to vital care for pregnant women in Egypt.

The Ministry spokesperson, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, highlighted the program’s specific focus on early detection of Hepatitis B, HIV, and syphilis infections. These critical screenings empower healthcare professionals to provide effective treatment and preventative measures, safeguarding both mothers and their unborn children.

The program’s milestone of reaching 2.5 million women since its inception underscores the Egyptian government’s commitment to improving maternal and fetal health. This initiative serves as a positive step towards a healthier future for mothers and their babies in Egypt.
