Egypt has launched the first phase of the ‘Dawwie’ initiative, which aims to empower Egyptian girls and promote equality and acceptance of others among children.

Sponsored by Egypt’s First Lady Intisar El-Sisi, the project seeks to provide girls with a safe and supportive environment, helping them learn new skills and providing access to essential services. The first phase of the initiative has already been completed in four governorates, with state entities and civil societies working together towards this common goal.

The Minister of Health and Population, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, has commended the initiative for promoting positive behaviors among children under 18 and helping them acquire important skills such as teamwork. He has also suggested that these skills and values be incorporated into educational curricula. The UNICEF representative, Jeremy Hopkins, has praised the initiative for promoting equality and focusing on the development of girls’ skills, while commending the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood and relevant ministries for empowering children in Egypt, spreading a culture of tolerance and acceptance, addressing bullying, providing access to quality education, and reducing the digital divide.

The Minister of Education and Technical Education, Reda Hegazy, has praised the efforts of the health ministry to empower both girls and boys and provide them with physical and psychological care under the ‘Dawwie’ initiative. He has also announced a partnership between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood within the framework of a national initiative called “Empowering the Egyptian Child.” This partnership has already begun with training workshops for teachers of extra-curricular activities and social workers in the ministry, to promote positive behaviors among children and consolidate knowledge and skills about behavioral problems.

The education minister has affirmed that this partnership aligns with the ministry’s strategic plans for 2030, which focus on providing Egyptian children with high-quality education by international standards. The ‘Dawwie’ initiative is a positive step towards empowering girls and promoting equality and acceptance among children in Egypt, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on future generations.
