Pharmaconex 2025 Kicks Off in Cairo, Reinforcing Egypt’s Leadership in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

Mona Yousef

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, the 12th edition of Pharmaconex, the region’s premier exhibition for pharmaceutical manufacturing, will take place from 1–3 September 2025 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC) in Cairo. The event reinforces Egypt’s status as a regional and international hub for pharmaceutical innovation and production.

The 2025 edition builds on twelve years of continuous growth and strategic alignment with Egypt’s National Health Strategy 2024–2030, showcasing both public and private sector efforts to localize pharmaceutical production, boost exports, and achieve medical self-sufficiency.

Egypt’s Pharmaceutical Landscape: A Regional Anchor

With over 170 licensed pharmaceutical factories producing 85% of local pharmaceutical demand, Egypt is positioning itself as a leading manufacturing base in Africa and the Middle East. Pharmaconex 2025 brings this vision to life by convening more than 350 exhibitors from 40 countries, alongside 70+ technical and business sessions on cutting-edge industry topics, including:

  • Sterile manufacturing & pharmaceutical engineering

  • Supply chain resilience & strategic reserves

  • Digital transformation in pharma

  • Quality control & regulatory alignment

A key highlight this year is the Cleanroom Technology Conference, held in collaboration with European experts, reflecting Egypt’s push toward global compliance and technology transfer.

Launch of the “Health & Wellness Zone” and Diversity Initiatives

In response to the surging demand for health supplements, the 2025 exhibition will feature the first “Health & Wellness Zone”, launched in collaboration with the National Food Safety Authority. This new space will spotlight growth in nutritional supplements, herbal products, and health-focused consumer goods.

Additionally, the “Women in Pharma” initiative will take center stage, promoting gender diversity and leadership across the pharmaceutical value chain.

Strategic Investment & Cross-Border Collaboration

With the backing of regional sponsors such as the Oman Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), Pharmaconex will also host executive roundtables and investment forums, aimed at advancing cross-border cooperation in the Middle East and Africa. Discussions will focus on:

  • Investment opportunities in pharma infrastructure

  • Localization of drug manufacturing

  • Regional trade facilitation and regulatory harmonization

Market Outlook: A $5.2 Billion Opportunity by 2030

According to event organizers, Egypt’s pharmaceutical exports reached $1.5 billion in FY 2024/2025, with a government target of $3 billion by 2030. The domestic market itself is projected to grow from $3.1 billion in 2023 to $5.2 billion by 2030, offering robust opportunities for both manufacturers and investors.

A Platform for Global Leaders

This year’s edition will host top industry players such as:

  • IMA – global leader in pharma packaging technology

  • EVA Pharma, UGC Pharma, Colorcon, and Sukhtian Pharma – regional and international leaders in medicines and supplements

Organizer’s Vision

Samar Awad, Exhibition Manager of Pharmaconex, emphasized the exhibition’s evolving role:

“Pharmaconex is more than an exhibition—it’s a strategic platform that empowers Egypt’s localization ambitions and accelerates partnerships that shape the future of pharma in the MENA region.”

She added:

“Egypt’s attractiveness as a pharma manufacturing hub continues to grow. This year, we’re not just showcasing products—we’re showcasing policy alignment, investment opportunities, and a national commitment to innovation, access, and export-led growth.”
