In a celebration marking a half-decade of transformative impact, Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhy presided over the annual ceremony for the “Tawar w Ghayer” initiative—a flagship youth empowerment program implemented in collaboration with Care Egypt Foundation for Development and Microsoft Egypt.
Organized by the Ministry’s Central Administration for Youth Empowerment, the event showcased the initiative’s broad national reach and its success in training over 5 million young Egyptians across all governorates over five years. The program focuses on life skills, digital literacy, employability, entrepreneurship, and technology training, positioning young people for success in Egypt’s evolving labor market.
A National Model for Youth Empowerment
In his keynote remarks, Minister Sobhy lauded “Tawar w Ghayer” as a pioneering model for holistic youth development, combining knowledge, digital readiness, and economic empowerment. He emphasized the initiative’s alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the ministry’s mission to translate skills into tangible employment opportunities, especially through integration with platforms like “Tawzeef Masr”, Egypt’s national employment portal.
“This initiative proves that strategic partnerships between government, private sector, and civil society are essential to unlocking the potential of our youth,” said Sobhy. “The future of Egypt lies in the dreams and skills of its young men and women.”
Microsoft Egypt: Digital Skills for a Competitive Future
Speaking on behalf of the tech partner, Eng. Mirna Arif, General Manager of Microsoft Egypt, highlighted the company’s commitment to equipping young Egyptians with digital and technical skills critical to success in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Care Egypt: Championing Sustainable Impact
Dr. Vivian Thabet, Executive Director of Care Egypt, expressed pride in the initiative’s reach and gender inclusion, noting that 51% of the 5 million beneficiaries were women. She underscored the initiative as a model for sustainable development and inclusive empowerment, praising the government’s commitment to investing in Egypt’s youth across urban and rural areas alike.
Recognition and Road Ahead
The ceremony concluded with official recognition of the Central Administration for Youth Empowerment, as well as select Youth and Sports Directorates from various governorates, in appreciation of their contribution to the initiative’s success.
