Egypt’s Finance Minister Discusses Propelling Cooperation With Bahrain

The second meeting of the Egyptian-Bahraini Government Committee for Economic, Commercial, Scientific, and Technological Cooperation took place today in the Kingdom of Bahrain, chaired by H.E. Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy of Bahrain, and Dr. Ahmed Kouchouk, Egyptian Minister of Finance.

In his remarks, Kouchouk highlighted that the committee has generated significant momentum in the bilateral relationship, encouraging joint efforts to increase investment and trade. He emphasized that the discussions during the meeting were “positive and constructive,” paving the way for even greater cooperation that will enhance the economic competitiveness of both countries.

Kouchouk pointed out the noticeable improvement in the economic activities between Egypt and Bahrain, especially in the tourism sector, over the past two years. He also noted that both countries share a common vision that the private sector is the driving force behind Egypt-Bahrain cooperation, which will push forward mutual investments and achieve sustainable development. Egypt is looking forward to hosting an economic forum to exchange investment opportunities between the Egyptian and Bahraini business communities in the near future.

The Minister stressed the importance of knowledge exchange and aligning visions between Egyptian and Bahraini institutions to create a shared system aimed at elevating bilateral relations. He stated, “We will work to strengthen cooperation in financial policies and reforms that support economic stability and sustainable growth, including sharing expertise in public financial management, reducing public debt, and improving spending efficiency.” Additionally, he expressed Egypt’s interest in expanding Bahraini investments in financial, technological sectors, and special economic zones.

At the start of the meeting, H.E. Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy of Bahrain, welcomed Minister Kouchouk and the accompanying delegation, affirming the deep and enduring brotherly relations between Bahrain and Egypt. He highlighted the continuous development and growth of bilateral ties in all fields, under the guidance and attention of H.M. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt. The strategic partnership is further supported by the diligent follow-up of H.R.H. Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, and H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt.

The meeting discussed important topics related to economic, commercial, scientific, and technological cooperation that aim to bring further progress and prosperity to both countries. It also explored ways to enhance bilateral collaboration in several critical areas, including the growth of trade exchange, investment opportunities, knowledge sharing, and best practices across various sectors.

Both parties agreed on the importance of joint efforts to deepen cooperation and strengthen the distinguished partnership to achieve the desired economic growth for the benefit of both countries and their peoples.

The meeting  brought together Dr. Rania El-Mashat, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Minister of International Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Hassan Khateeb, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, along with several officials from both sides.

On the Bahraini side, attendees included: H.E. Mr. Hamad bin Faisal Al-Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; H.E. Ms. Noor bint Ali Al-Khalifa, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chairperson of the Economic Development Board; H.E. Ms. Fatima bint Jafar Al-Sairafi, Minister of Tourism; H.E. Mr. Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce; H.E. Mr. Samir Abdullah Nass, Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, CEO of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company.
