Egypt’s Environment Minister Hands Over PERSGA Presidency to Jordan

Egypt’s Minister of Environment, Dr. Yasmin Fouad,  is currently attending the 21st Ministerial Council session of the Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (PERSGA) in Aqaba, Jordan. The session is being chaired by Dr. Maawiya Khaled Al-Radaideh, Jordan’s Minister of Environment, who will assume the presidency of the council for the upcoming term.

During the opening session, Dr. Fouad, as outgoing chair of the 20th session, will formally hand over the presidency to Dr. Al-Radaideh.

In her address, Dr. Fouad emphasized that the meeting will include the approval of the agenda, as well as a review of the Secretary-General’s report on PERSGA’s activities during 2023-2024, ongoing administrative developments, and the organization’s strategic plans. The council will also review the financial status of PERSGA for 2024 and approve the work plan and budget for 2025-2026.

On the margins of the meeting, Dr. Fouad is scheduled to hold a bilateral discussion with Dr. Al-Radaideh to explore key environmental issues of mutual concern, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing challenges within the Red Sea region.
