Egypt’s National Council for Women has praised the series “Beraghm El Qanoon” or “Despite the Law,” which focuses on various issues faced by Egyptian women, especially when their husbands disappear.
The 30-episode series, which stars Egyptian actress Iman Al-Assi, is currently being shown on ON channels and the WATCH IT digital platform. It is a social drama series that delves into legal issues and illuminates the challenges encountered by Egyptian women.
Dr. Suzan Al-Qalini, a member of the Council and rapporteur of the Media Committee, expressed her delight and pride in the recent trend of drama series dedicating themselves to discussing women’s issues and raising awareness of them in society.
She highlighted that the series aligns with the Egyptian state’s policies supporting the empowerment and protection of Egyptian women. Dr. Al-Qalini also mentioned that the Council’s monitoring committee has issued a report analyzing the series and its portrayal of women, their age groups, and the positive and negative images of women, as well as the key issues the series addresses in relation to amending laws.
Furthermore, the Council extends its heartfelt gratitude to all those involved in the series. This includes the United Company and the Arts of Egypt Company, producers Raymond Makar and Mohamed Abdel Aziz, author Naglaa El-Hadini, and director Shady Abdel Salam. Their initiative in presenting this important and purposeful series is deeply appreciated and recognized.
The Council also thanked all the series’ actors and praised their outstanding performances, particularly talented actress Iman Al-Assi, for effectively portraying the challenges women face in the absence of their husbands.
