Minister of Environment Shines at the Egyptian Press Awards ceremony

The Egyptian Press Awards celebration, which was held yesterday at the Journalists Syndicate under the patronage of H.E. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister and the United Media Services company (UMS), witnessed the presence of a flower of journalist writers, ministers and officials, led by the Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, Engineer Ibrahim Mahlab, the former Prime Minister, Khaled Al-Balshi, head of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate, Nasser Abu Baker, president of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS), and Professor Jalal Arif, former head of Egypt’s Journalists Syndicate.

 

Egyptian women dominated the scene at the ceremony, as the Minister of Environment handed over environmental journalism awards to the winners, including journalist Hend Saeed from the Middle East News Agency, who won the Environmental Journalism Award for the year 2023, shared with journalist Wissam Hamdy from Al Karama newspaper.

 

On her part, Yasmine Fouad stressed the importance of the award as an incentive to encourage environmental journalism in Egypt. She highlighted the most critical environmental issues, noting that environmental journalists are essential in advancing the ecological action agenda.

 

Officials at the ceremony also praised Egyptian female journalists and women’s journalism in Egypt. They honored the great journalist Sanaa El-Beisi, who dedicated her life to defending women after showing a short documentary about the history of her outstanding achievements.

 

Many female journalists also received awards for their journalistic excellence. In the Multimedia Journalism branch, the jury gave the award for the year 2022 to colleague Asmaa Zakaria, colleague Ayat Al-Habbal, and Mahmoud Al-Khawas from the Al-Masry Al-Youm website.

 

As for the Mohamed Salmawy Award for Journalism in Foreign Languages, it was won by colleague Alia Abu Shahba, who collaborates with Al-Ahram Weekly, in addition to colleagues Dina Darwish from Al-Ahram Hebdo, Sarah Al-Hosary for a topic in Al-Ahram Weekly, and Ashraf Amin from Al-Ahram Daily.

 

The ceremony also witnessed the distribution of awards in all branches and categories of journalism, such as the Journalism Layout Award, which was won by the artistic director of Al-Shorouk newspaper, Mohammed Ammar.
