Production has begun on the highly-anticipated biographical film “El Set” depicting the life of the renowned singer Umm Kulthum. The cast includes Mona Zaki who stars as the legendary singer, Sayed Ragab portraying Umm Kulthum’s father Sheikh Ibrahim Muhammad Al-Beltagy, and Ahmed Khaled Saleh playing her brother Khaled Ibrahim Al-Beltagy.
Additionally, Amr Saad has been selected to portray former Egyptian president Gamal Abdel-Nasser in the film.
The cast also includes Mohamed Farag, Amr Saad, Ahmed Dawood, Ahmed Khaled Saleh, Tamer Nabil, and others. The biopic will also showcase various guest appearances, with Ahmed Helmy, Nelly Karim, and Amina Khalil making special appearances.
The upcoming film is being directed by Marwan Hamed based on a script by Ahmed Mourad. This project is part of the “Big Time” Investment Fund, which is dedicated to enhancing the quality of Arabic content and filmmaking.
Supported by the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the fund focuses on investing in significant Saudi, Gulf, and Arab films featuring some of the most prominent stars in the Arab world.
