Egypt received this week Palestinians, comprising injured and oncology patients, from Gaza via the Rafah crossing to be treated at Egyptian hospitals.

The new batch has been admitted to various Egyptian hospitals, including Al-Arish Hospital, Sheikh Zuwayd Hospital, Suez and Ismailia Medical Complex, and Al-Hayat Hospital in Port Said.

According to medical sources at the Health Directorate in North Sinai, 57 companions were also allowed entry into the country along with the 29 patients.

Since the onset of the Israeli war on Gaza, Egypt has received dozens of injured Palestinians and patients from Gaza for treatment. The majority of Gaza hospitals have been out of service due to the war.

Until 14 January, Egypt received 1,210 patients from Gaza for treatment in Egyptian and friendly countries’ hospitals, accompanied by 1,085 companions.
