The first meeting of the Committee to Support the Relationship Between the State and the Middle Class was presided over by Minister of Social Solidarity Nivine El-Kabbag, with representatives from various ministries, agencies, and civil society organizations in attendance.

The Minister of Social Solidarity emphasized the role of the middle class in achieving economic and social development, stating that the effectiveness of the middle class as a strong supporter of economic and political transformation is critical to maintaining societal security and economic balance.

El-Kabbag went on to say that the middle class is the most vulnerable to economic fluctuations as it is divided into several distinct segments based on their geographical locations, investment environments, demographic characteristics, and educational levels.

Hassan Mostafa, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for Investment, Asset Management, Resource Development, and Chairman of the Committee, outlined the committee’s work, which includes preparing studies, research, and policy papers on middle-class issues.

The committee is also in charge of conducting opinion polls and periodic research to monitor the middle class’ attitudes toward public services and national and social issues, as well as preparing proposals and interventions in response to the poll results. Furthermore, the committee encourages all forms of community participation in middle-class development programs, including collaboration in national projects and initiatives between the government and civil society organizations.

Furthermore, the committee coordinates efforts to increase middle-class integration into economic and medium-sized projects offered by all private and public institutions, by developing a plan for promotion, availability, and obstacle removal.

The committee works to assist civil society organizations in reclaiming their role as a civil incubator for all forms of diversity in Egypt, reflecting values of citizenship and the modern state against extremism in all its forms. Furthermore, the committee investigates the implementation of media campaigns and programs to disseminate integrated messages of awareness among middle-class segments.
