Egyptian Expats Urged to Immediate Evacuation From Sudan Amid Escalating Conflict

News Agencies

In response to intensifying clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a compelling call for its citizens to swiftly depart Sudan. Regardless of their location in Sudan, including areas not directly affected by the violence, all Egyptian nationals have been urged to leave the country as soon as possible.

The ministry’s statement, released on Wednesday, emphasizes the gravity of the situation and the necessity for immediate action. The decision to urge evacuation follows a successful rescue operation conducted by the Egyptian embassy in Sudan. In collaboration with Sudanese authorities, the embassy successfully evacuated 18 students and their family members who were stranded in the conflict-ridden city of Wad Madani, which has become a recent focal point for clashes between the rival forces.

The rescued individuals were safely transported from Wad Madani to the Egyptian Consulate in Port Sudan, from where they were subsequently repatriated to Egypt. This operation serves as a testament to the embassy’s commitment to the safety and well-being of Egyptian citizens caught amid the escalating conflict.

The urgent recommendation to leave Sudan stems from the continuous armed confrontations between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, resulting in a significant number of casualties. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledges the risks posed by the ongoing conflict and underscores the importance of its citizens’ safety by strongly advising their immediate departure from the country.

In light of the escalating situation and the potential for further violence, Egyptian nationals in Sudan are strongly urged to heed the ministry’s call and take the necessary measures to ensure their safety. The ministry remains committed to providing assistance and support to its citizens throughout this challenging time.

It is essential for citizens to closely monitor official communications from the Egyptian embassy and to follow any additional instructions or guidance provided. Prompt action and cooperation with relevant authorities will contribute to the safe and orderly evacuation of Egyptian nationals from Sudan.
