Dr. Abla Al Alfy, a member of the House of Representatives and the general supervisor of the “1000 Golden Days” presidential initiative for the Development of the Egyptian Family, unveiled details of the initiative, scheduled to launch today in 10 governorates as a first stage.
In exclusive statements to Cairo 24, Al Alfy stated that the new presidential initiative targets the health of the mother and child, starting from premarital counseling and the period of pregnancy until the end of the second year of birth, adding that the 1000-day period from pregnancy to the second year of birth immensely affects the life of the child, noting that research studies have shown that everything spent on those thousand days saves $155 over the age of 6 years of the child’s life.
Dr. Abla Further indicated that the initiative provides its services through counseling offices in primary care units, stressing that the initiative aims to increase the child’s intelligence rates and spacing successive pregnancies to save the population issue, reduce communicable diseases and limit genetic diseases.
