The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) welcomed a delegation from the Bank of South Sudan for a visit, sharing regulatory expertise to help enhance South Sudan’s oversight and banking capacity, according to recent statement
This visit was part of an agreement signed by both banks in 2021.
He expressed CBE’s willingness to assist South Sudan in enhancing their supervisory and banking capabilities. The CBE also offered to share their expertise in areas like banking supervision, risk management, payment systems, financial inclusion, banking legislation, and combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
During the visit, the delegation visited several institutions and entities in the banking industry, including the Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI). They discussed ways to collaborate on training, capacity development, and qualification of banking professionals in South Sudan.
The delegation also visited the Egyptian Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Terrorist Financing System (AML/CTF) and the Financial Regulatory Authority’s (FRA) headquarters in the Smart Village. At both locations, they were received and welcomed by high-level officials who explained their respective roles in the monitoring of the financial sector.
