The US Ambassador to Egypt, Herro Mustafa Garg, and her delegation met with Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Saed to talk over new ways to improve bilateral cooperation between Egypt and the US.
According to a press release released on Friday, El-Saed reviewed the Ministry’s role in setting annual investment plans and making sure public investments are directed to enhance citizens’ quality of life and expand access to public services by concentrating on industries that promote economic growth, offer respectable job opportunities, and close development gaps across Egypt’s governorates.
In order to improve development financing in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 goals, she emphasized the Ministry’s role in assessing each party’s proposed investment projects, diversifying funding sources for development plans and programs, and fostering partnerships with the private sector, civil society, and development partners.
El-Saed also touched on the ministries’ affiliated organizations that it oversees, mentioning the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, the National Investment Bank, the Demographic Center, the National Planning Institute, and the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development. She also talked about the primary roles that these organizations play in various initiatives and programs.
She further discussed the primary projects and activities that the Ministry is engaged in, including the Egypt Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Egyptian Family Development Program, and the National Program for Structural Reforms.
These programs also include the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, the National Labor Market Information Center, the Sustainable Development Ambassadors Initiative “Be an Ambassador”, the Egypt Award for Government Excellence, and the integrated system for creating and monitoring investment plans.
