NCW Launches Workshop on Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment

The National Council for Women established a workshop on December 18 and 19, 2023, titled “Institutional Analysis in Support of Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment,” in collaboration with the National Planning Institute and the International Training Center (affiliated with the International Labor Organization in Turin, Italy).

In addition to identifying needs and developing an action plan to implement best practices and policies to integrate the needs of men and women into the institute’s plans and programs, the workshop aimed to give participants the chance to discuss and propose policies to support the perspective of gender equality and women’s empowerment, design a set of guidelines and tools, and create a capacity-building program that takes gender equality into account. Equal chances and the empowerment of women.

This workshop was held within the framework of the Council’s project to increase women’s participation in public life in Egypt, which is being carried out in conjunction with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the European Union.

The event took place in the presence of the following: Monica Rizzi, a senior official in the International Training Center of the International Labor Organization’s International Labor Standards, Labor Rights, and Gender Equality Program; several leaders of the Scientific Board, the Associate Scientific Board; the Institute’s administrative staff; and representatives of the Council, National Center for Women, and the International Training Center of the International Labor Organization; Dr. Ashraf El-Arabi, President of the National Planning Institute; Dr. Ashraf Salah El-Din, Vice President of the Institute for Training, Consultation, and Community Service Affairs; and Dr. Naglaa Al-Adly, Head of the Central Administration for Financial and Administrative Affairs at the National Council for Women.

It is worth noting that, as part of the initial phase of efforts to mainstream the perspectives of gender equality and women’s empowerment in government institutions, several initiatives, including the training of 14 trainees from the national program, were carried out in collaboration with the International Training Center of the International Labor Organization. Women in Leadership, using the ILO participatory methodology, on “institutional analysis to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment”.
