Michael Cinco, a well-known Filipino fashion designer residing in Dubai, debuted his first collection in Egypt.
The renowned Asian designer recently launched a new collection, titled “The Impalpable Dream of Egypt”, at the first New Al Alamein Festival on the North Coast.
During the fifth week of the event, which runs from August 24-31, the show, organized by Posh Management in partnership with Counsel Masters, Skydive Pharaohs, and Al Alamein Arena, took place in North Square.
Known for his fascination with ancient Egypt, Cinco incorporated some of its famous characteristics in his latest collection.
Drawing inspiration from the historical and cultural legacy of Pharaonic art and needlework, the Arab Fashion Week collection expertly paid respect to Egypt’s ancient history, from its pharaohs to their relics.
Moreover, the models were covered in gold henna on their faces as a reference to the ancient history and culture of the country.
The collection featured golden looks mixed with black and opulent, elaborate embellishments. The epilogue depicts the resurrected Queen Nefertiti wearing a garment with a three-meter train made of many beads.
Cinco revealed in an interview that designing a dress for his label takes a lot of hard work and concentration and could take up to three months to add all the details.
He added that he has also drawn inspiration from Egypt’s famous landmarks, such as the Great Sphinx, the Giza Pyramids, the Karnak Temple, and the Valley of the Kings’ tombs.
It is worth noting that Cinco first established his label in 2003 after moving to Dubai in 1997.
International celebrities worldwide have worn his award-winning designs, including Rihanna, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, and Lady Gaga.
The creative artist expressed his extreme joy to be presenting his designs for the first time in Egypt, which he visited five times.
