Yesterday, February 17, Farida Osman, an acclaimed Egyptian swimmer, secured the bronze medal in the Women’s 50m Butterfly event at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar.

She finished the race with an impressive time of 25.67 seconds, coming in third behind Sarah Sjoestroem from Sweden, who finished first with 24.63 seconds, and Melanie Henique from France, who finished second with 25.44 seconds.

Osman’s journey to the finals of the 50m Butterfly began with a third-place finish in the preliminary round, where she clocked in at 25.80 seconds. However, her performance in the 100m Butterfly event was not as good, and she finished in 15th place with a time of 59.12 seconds. The race winner was Angelina Kohler from Germany, who completed it in 56.28 seconds.

The win is not the first time Osman has won a medal at the World Aquatics Championships. She has previously earned two bronze medals in previous editions of the championship, one in 2017 in Hungary and another in 2019 in South Korea. In the 2022 edition held in Hungary, she secured a fourth-place finish.

Qatar hosts the World Aquatics Championships from February 2 to February 18 and features 75 events encompassing six aquatic disciplines, including swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming, open water swimming, and high diving. With her victory, Osman has secured Egypt’s second medal at this prestigious championship.
