Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Albanian Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro on environmental protection and sustainable development.

According to a statement released by the Environment Ministry on Saturday 17/12/2022, the agreement was signed on the sidelines of the two ministers’ participation in the High-Level Segment of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, which is being held in the Canadian city of Montreal on December 7-19, under the presidency of China.

Fouad said the MoU is aimed at fostering cooperation between Egypt and Albania in the fields of biodiversity, nature reserves, ecotourism, coastal zone management, climate change, marine pollution and disaster management, as well as air and water quality monitoring.

She stated that the two countries will hold several joint seminars, workshops, and meetings attended by ecologists, experts, decision-makers, and other relevant stakeholders from both sides, as well as strengthen cooperation between the Egyptian and Albanian private sectors in several environmental areas.
