Housing and Development Bank Launches Breast Cancer Awareness Initiative with Baheya Foundation
Initiative marks Pink October with awareness sessions and early screening opportunities for female employees
The Housing and Development Bank (HDB) has launched a breast cancer awareness initiative in collaboration with the Baheya Foundation for Early Detection and Treatment of Breast Cancer, as part of Pink October. The initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to promoting health awareness and providing a supportive workplace that prioritises employees’ well-being.
The initiative included awareness sessions for the bank’s female employees, alongside opportunities for early screening, highlighting the importance of early detection in improving treatment outcomes and reducing complications associated with the disease.
The sessions covered the importance of early breast cancer detection, associated risk factors and prevention methods. They also addressed the correct technique for breast self-examination and signs that may require medical consultation. In addition, the initiative provided female employees with access to early screening, helping strengthen health awareness and encourage healthy preventive practices.
The initiative forms part of the Housing and Development Bank’s 2025–2030 strategy, which aims to create a supportive and motivating work environment that places employees’ health and quality of life among its priorities. The bank believes that investing in its workforce extends beyond professional development to include safeguarding employees’ health and well-being and encouraging healthy habits. This approach is intended to strengthen employee engagement and effectiveness in achieving the bank’s strategic objectives and sustaining its growth.
Continued Cooperation with the Baheya Foundation
The initiative builds on the ongoing partnership between the Housing and Development Bank and the Baheya Foundation. As part of this cooperation, the bank is supporting the establishment of a fully equipped operating suite bearing its name at Baheya Hospital.
The suite will include two fully equipped, enclosed capsule-style operating rooms, with the bank’s total contributions reaching EGP 21 million. This support is intended to help provide surgical procedures for women battling breast cancer and strengthen the hospital’s capacity to deliver treatment services.
The partnership underscores the bank’s commitment to supporting healthcare initiatives and contributing to the wider community.
