Alexandria Library to Host Seminar Celebrating Ambassador Mervat Tallawy’s Legacy and Women’s Leadership

The Alexandria Library will host a seminar titled “A Woman from Upper Egypt Making History” on July 9, as part of the cultural program accompanying the Alexandria Library International Book Fair. The event will celebrate the distinguished national and international career of Ambassador Mervat Tallawy, one of Egypt’s most prominent female diplomats and public figures.

The seminar will bring together a distinguished panel of speakers, including Counselor Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women (NCW); Professor Hassan Sand, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Minia University; Eng. Nadia Abdou, former Governor of Beheira; and Eng. Samia Mostafa, President of Rotary Smouha Sporting Club.

The discussion will be moderated by writer and media personality Nashwa El Hofy, who will lead a conversation exploring the defining milestones of Ambassador Tallawy’s career, her longstanding contributions to advancing women’s rights, and her influential role in Egypt’s diplomatic, political, regional, and international affairs.

The seminar will trace Ambassador Tallawy’s journey from her upbringing in Upper Egypt to her distinguished diplomatic and public service career, highlighting her contributions to women’s empowerment and public policy, as well as her enduring impact on national development. Her career continues to serve as an inspiring example of leadership and public service for future generations.

The event forms part of the Alexandria Library International Book Fair’s broader cultural agenda, which aims to showcase influential Egyptian figures and document their experiences through intellectual and public dialogue.
