During an official visit to South Sinai Governorate, Counselor Amal Ammar, President of Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW), and Maj. Gen. Khaled Mubarak, Governor of South Sinai, conducted a high-profile tour of the Sharm El-Sheikh Museum, underscoring the state’s growing emphasis on cultural heritage and gender empowerment.
The distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by Engineer Myriam Edward, General Supervisor of the museum, and Mr. Mohamed Hassanein, Museum Director, who guided them through the museum’s halls, offering insight into its rich collections and historical narratives.
Launch of “Silver Brilliance” Exhibition
The highlight of the visit was the official inauguration of a new temporary exhibition titled “Silver Brilliance: A Timeless Art Through the Ages”. The exhibition will run for six months, showcasing over 80 rare silver artifacts, including ornaments, utensils, and royal collectibles, shedding light on the opulent lifestyles and refined artistry of various Egyptian eras.
Among the standout exhibits are:
- A necklace from the 18th Dynasty of ancient Egypt’s New Kingdom
- 742 historic coins spanning Roman, Abbasid, and Ottoman periods
- Lavish possessions from the Mohamed Ali Royal Family, including:
- Princess Fawzia’s lighter
- Ornate silver cigarette cases
- Articulated silver fish figurines
Counselor Ammar and Governor Mubarak expressed their admiration for the exhibition, emphasizing the importance of cultural preservation in fostering national identity and pride.

Joining the tour were prominent figures including:
- Engineer Gehan Tawfik, Head of the Central Administration at the NCW Presidency Office
