The Arab Women Organization has announced that Dr. Hanan Hassan Belkhe, Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Eastern Mediterranean Region, has been awarded the Distinguished Arab Woman Award in the International Organizations category.
In a statement issued today, the Arab Women Organization’s media office praised Dr. Belkhe’s impressive academic and professional background, noting her significant contributions to the WHO and her leadership roles within the organization. Dr. Belkhe has become a prominent figure representing the success of Arab women on international platforms. The statement also highlighted her expertise as an academic, physician, and epidemiologist, with a particular focus on supporting research and initiatives related to the treatment of breast cancer and cervical cancer. These efforts were instrumental in securing her win for this prestigious award.
It is noteworthy that the Distinguished Arab Woman Award has been presented since 2004 under the auspices of the League of Arab States, recognizing outstanding Arab women in various fields of work and societal contributions.
The award ceremony will take place at the League of Arab States headquarters in May, coinciding with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Arab Women Organization.
