Yesterday, the Environment Minister, Yasmine Fouad, left for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the 10th Regional Forum of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in West Asia.
The forum is scheduled to start today and will run until September 11. During her visit, Fouad will participate in a session focused on the IUCN’s strategic vision and financial plan for the next 20 years.
In her pre-departure statements, the minister emphasized her Ministry’s role in promoting sustainable practices and its commitment to addressing the pressing issues of biodiversity and climate change through a collaborative approach to protect environmental systems.
Fouad will also discuss the challenges Egypt faces in implementing environmental policies and the measures taken by her Ministry to address them. Additionally, she will highlight the role of civil society and environmental projects in contributing to sustainable development, aligning with the IUCN’s inspiring vision for 2030.
The forum, organized by the National Center for Wildlife Development, will convene over 200 experts and specialists. This gathering provides a platform for participants to cooperate, share insights, and address urgent environmental challenges.
It aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas, discussions on common ecological issues, and the development of effective strategies for nature preservation.
