Table tennis Champion for Al-Ahly Club and the Egyptian national team, Hana Gouda, recently announced on her Facebook account that she was awarded the First Class Sports Medal by the President of the Republic, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
In her post, Gouda mentioned that the award was presented to her as a token of appreciation for her noble qualities and great services to sports. She also highlighted that she is the youngest player to win the African Table Tennis Championship, having beaten Dina Meshref last year at the age of 15 to qualify for the Paris Olympics.
Gouda won the African Cup twice in a row in 2022 and 2023, making it three continental titles. She was also awarded the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Sports Creativity’s Best Arab Youth Award.
Although Gouda attended the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she was on the reserve list of the Egyptian table tennis team and did not play.
