Egypt will be the first state in Africa to have the potential to assemble and test satellites after finalizing Misr-Sat 2, according to the Chinese Ambassador in Cairo Liao Liqiang.

This promotes Egypt’s efforts in developing the space industry.

The ambassador hailed cooperation with Egypt in order to launch the satellite from China in the first week of October.

The satellite at a cost of $ 74 million will promote economic and agricultural development in Africa.

The mission of the satellite is to photograph Egyptian soil to preserve the environment and undertake remote sensing.

The work on the project began in 2019 but it has been delayed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Yet, cooperation with the Chinese side resumed.
