Egyptian Opera House Organizes Women Leaders Symposium at Damanhour Opera Salon

The Egyptian Opera House, headed by Dr. Khaled Dagher, organized a cultural salon entitled “Women Leaders” with the participation of Eng. Nadia Abdo, the first woman to hold the governor position, and Dr. Nevin Al-Kateb, a member of the House of Representatives and a member of the National Alliance for Civil and Development Action, in a dialogue moderated by Dr. Heba Al-Osoli and supervised by artist Amin El-Serafy, at the Damanhour Opera Salon.

The meeting touched on the gains achieved by women in the new republic, who, with the support of the political leadership, reached several positions, such as judges, maids, and mayors.

In her speech, Engineer Nadia indicated that she started working as an engineer and held many leadership positions as a result of her superior ability to manage and organize time, which is one of the most important basics of success, in addition to her adoption of a management style that depends on developing the belongingness of the employees in the institution to obtain the best results.

She also confirmed that the current situation of women is much better than in the past, indicating that any success depends on being wise and calm in overcoming challenges.

Moreover, Abdo affirmed that women can reconcile taking care of their home affairs with their work and that the leading woman cannot cancel the guardianship of the man.

For her part, Dr. Nevin Al-Kateb emphasized the importance of empowering women from the economic side, which she did by establishing workshops for women to teach them handmade carpets and kilims, to provide them with real job opportunities, in addition to training them on how to market their products to obtain a reasonable profit margin.

She also emphasized the importance of women’s participation in development and that her work does not mean that she falls short in the affairs of her household because her children, her family, and her husband must remain a priority and her life.
