10th General Conf. of Arab Women Organization to Kick off Today

Today, Monday, marks the commencement of the 10th General Conference of the Arab Women Organization (AWO). The conference, themed “Communication, Empowerment, and Protection for Women and Girls from Cyber Violence and Technology-Related Violence, Including Artificial Intelligence,” will take place in Cairo over two days, May 5th and 6th, 2025.

This significant event, a recurring highlight for the AWO, combines both political and scholarly dimensions.

The 10th conference is being held under the presidency and patronage of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the current chair of the organization for the 2023-2025 term.

High-Level Official Delegations from Arab Nations

The conference will witness the participation of high-ranking official delegations from across the Arab world. Additionally, representatives from the League of Arab States, ambassadors from several foreign countries, members of the AWO’s advisory committees, and invitees from international and regional organizations with shared interests will be in attendance. Experts in the field under discussion will also contribute their knowledge.

The opening session will feature official addresses from the heads of participating Arab states, as well as speeches from the heads of the AWO’s bodies, its Director-General, guests of honor, and the head of the scientific team.

Six Working Sessions Featuring 26 Arab Experts

The conference program includes six working sessions. During these sessions, 26 specialized experts from Arab countries will present scholarly papers. These papers will address the issue of cyber violence against women and girls and strategies to combat it from various perspectives. Topics will include fundamental concepts, legislative and legal frameworks, national and international experiences, and the utilization of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity technologies for the protection of women.

Roundtable on the Intermediary Responsibility of Civil Society, Corporations, and Global Platforms in Protecting Women

The event will also feature a roundtable discussion focusing on the intermediary responsibility of civil society organizations, corporations, and global platforms in safeguarding women and girls from cyber violence.

Furthermore, the AWO will announce the new cycle of the “Arab Girl and Technology Award for 2025” during the conference.

The conference will also see the launch of the “Training Manual on the Methodology of Preparing National Reports Submitted to the Regional Committee Concerned with Eliminating All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW),” prepared by the organization.
