Women’s Environmental Awareness Initiative Set To be Launched On Sidelines of Cop27

Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Egypt’s Minister of Environment, highlighted the current efforts exerted with regard to the women’s environmental awareness initiative the coming Women’s Environmental Awareness Initiative that is set to be launched on International Women’s Day before the climate conference, as well as identifying the initiative’s fundraisers.

The minister also clarified that this initiative would address several issues, namely raising awareness on environmental protection, the green economy, and behavioral reform with regard to the environment. She also referred to the Egyptian women’s role in addressing climate change issues. The initiative will also witness the participation of several civil society organizations.

The minister’s remarks were declared during an extended online meeting via video conferencing app. The meeting witnessed the attendance of the minister, Yasmine Fouad,   and the President of the National Council for Women, Dr. Maya Morsy, to discuss all the UNFCCC’s special preparations at the Cop 27th Conference that is set to be held in November in Sharm El-Sheikh city. The meeting took place after the decisions held by the COP27 Higher Committee in the presence of the  Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for International Humanitarian and Social Affairs, Amb. Mahmoud Afifi, and officials representing the Ministry of Environment and the National Council for Women.

Dr. Yasmine also acknowledged that all the concerned parties and ministries with regard to organizing the COP 27th Conference are doing their best to ensure that Egypt’s international image would remain the best.
