WhatsApp Introduces New Feature That Allows Users to Hide Messages

by Nada Khaled

The Desktop Screen Lock, a new feature that conceals the user’s chat list behind a closed screen, was made public by WhatsApp this week as a trial version. Entering the account’s password is the only way to get rid of the black screen.

Only a small number of users who have downloaded the most recent version of the app and participated in the beta testing program currently have access to the feature. The Privacy page in the WhatsApp settings is where users can turn on this function.

Wabeta.com states that the time interval for when the user is required to input the password can be customized for the Desktop Screen Lock function. The user must log in again by scanning the QR code if they forget their password.

Once on, this feature assures users that even if someone manages to get into your computer while you’re away, they won’t be able to view your WhatsApp conversations or messages without the password.

Instant alerts won’t show up when the screen is locked, surely helping users to keep their discussions private.

According to the British publication The Mirror, this improves privacy by prohibiting unwanted users from reading personal information.
