UNDP: Egypt Made Great Strides Towards Integrated Local Development

The Egyptian government has made great strides towards integrated local development by adopting large-scale initiatives, such as the “Decent Life” Initiative, UNDP Resident Representative Alessandro Fracassetti said.

During a workshop organized on Tuesday 10/1/2023 by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in cooperation with UNDP, Fracassetti noted that the presidential initiative offers an important opportunity to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) by focusing on the poorest villages and those left behind.

Highlighting the principal role of local governments in the development process, the UN official said UNDP is working for applying its local government experience to localize sustainable development goals and ensure their integration.

Meanwhile, Minister of Local Development Hisham Amna said according  to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives, the government has been devoting increasing attention to localizing sustainable development goals for inclusive and sustainable growth and balanced regional development, which are two essential elements of Egypt’s Sustainable Development Strategy towards Egypt Vision 2030.
