Solidarity Minister Launches Red Crescent Relief Convoy to Support Sudanese People

by Nada Khaled

Earlier Today, Dr. Nevine Al Qabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, launched the Red Crescent relief convoy, presented at the initiative of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs and the Kuwaiti Red Crescent convoy to support the Sudanese people.

Her directives come in terms of the humanitarian role played by Egypt in supporting the brotherly Sudanese people during their recent crisis that has been going on since last Ramadan.

Not so long ago, Al Qabbaj announced the provision of approximately 27 tons of medical supplies and personal protection tools to the State of Sudan, explaining that this aid comes within the framework of the United Nations Development Program with funding from the European Union through the Egyptian Red Crescent Society.

It is worth noting that the international relief teams of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society headed immediately after the outbreak of the Sudanese crisis last April, towards the Egyptian-Sudanese borders and crossings in Aswan Governorate, out of the basic role concerned with it in times of crises and disasters, and as a continuation of the efforts of the Egyptian Red Crescent to serve humanity.

The Minister underlined that the Red Crescent has been present on the Egyptian-Sudanese border since the first moments of last April 15 to provide all necessary support to the returnees from Sudan.
