No taxes will be imposed on accounts of expats wishing to import cars: Gov’t

by nevine

The Cabinet Media Center has dismissed as groundless reports claiming that taxes will be levied on the bank accounts of Egyptian expatriates, who intend to import cars.

In a statement Tuesday, the center said it contacted the Finance Ministry, which totally denied such reports.

There is no intention to impose taxes on the banks accounts of Egyptians abroad, who wish to import cars, it affirmed.

The initiative of “granting some facilities to Egyptians living abroad in terms of importing one personal-use car” has witnessed a great demand since its launch, as until now, 31,000 registered on the digital platform of the initiative, it further said.

The center, meanwhile, urged all media outlets to seek accuracy and objectivity before publishing news, advising them to contact bodies concerned so as to avoid sparking confusion among the public.
